United Nations Development Programme and Microfinance Banks Sign $2.9 Million Agreement to Support Financial Inclusion in Syria

In the presence of Mr Abdul Salam Haykal, Interim Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology, Mr Abdelkader Husrieh, the Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, and Dr Abdallah Aldardari, UN Assistant Secretary General and Director of UNDP in the Arab States, UNDP signed today a $2.9 million agreement with 4 #microfinance banks to pilot the Subsidized Interest Rate project, a first of its kind collaboration in #Syria that will provide access to finance to 1600+ people. This comes as part of a shared vision for inclusive economic growth and our commitment to deepening financial inclusion and expanding access to credit to improve livelihoods
